Tropical Triathlon shows off Lake Worth's beach

Lake Worth's beach renovations were finished earlier this year.

The Tropical Triathlon gave Lake Worth the perfect weekend to showcase its beachfront.

Saturday afternoon, the event organizers held a packet pick-up with a Health and Fitness Expo on the second floor of the casino building. The expo, sponsored by The Zoo Health Club, was free.

Representatives from about 20 different vendors were there, including Orange Theory Fitness, Advanced Wellness chiropractors, Family Dentist of Palm Beach and NuVista rehab and nursing home.

Representatives from Orange Theory Fitness tout the company's
newest location in Boynton Beach.

Dr. Joseph Thiem, of Advanced Wellness Sports & Chiropractic Center
in Lake Worth, talks about the center's owner Dr. Alex Keith and his role
as founder and race director of the Tropical Triathlon.

Sarah Parr and Doug Johnson discuss the merits of The Zoo Health Club's
downtown Lake Worth location with two expo attendees.

The sprint-level triathlon required participants to swim .25 mile in the ocean, ride their bikes for 11 miles on Lake Worth city streets, and run a 5K through the city's downtown.

Carol Hassell, 60, of West Palm Beach was the women's winner with a time of one hour, 7 minutes and 44 seconds. In the men's division, John Reback, 43, of Jupiter, came in first with his time of 56 minutes and 19 seconds. For a list of the finishers, go here. For more race day photos, go here and here.

Truly an inspiring event!

And now, for my numbers

I had my best walking day last week on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013 when I walked:
