By that I mean I will write down good things that happen daily -- from a simple thank you to a spectacular adventure. I will once again create a gratitude jar to hold these notes for an entire year.
Then at the end of 2015, I will review them and toast to the good year I just enjoyed.
I invite my readers to create a gratitude jar, it's not too late. Then together we can review them on New Year's Eve -- even if it is just virtually.
Training my dog
This is how Sadie looked when I first brought her home after adopting her from Tri-County Animal Rescue in Boca Raton.
Sadie spent her first day hiding in my Lake Worth house. |
Soon, she began to feel so comfortable that her energy was overwhelming. I knew training would be one way to harness that energy and turn her into a civilized canine companion. If all goes well, she will graduate this Saturday from 6 weeks of basic training at PetSmart in the new Palm Beach Outlets mall in West Palm Beach.
Keep moving
Faithful followers of my Facebook page know I like to go to the Lake Worth Beach early Sunday mornings. I take my dog and we walk a lap or two around the casino building and lower parking lots, cut through nearby Kreusler Park where the serious cyclists gather and then end in front of Mulligan's.
Every Sunday, I stop to take pictures of the sunrise or yoga and tai chi practitioners on the beach. The secret in making Sadie stop is stepping on her leash.
Now that Sadie is treat-oriented from her training, she will sit still long enough for me to take her picture -- if I hold a treat in my other hand.
Notice the position of her right paw. The trainer pointed out that she surely would learn to shake quickly. She did. |

And now, for my numbers
I had my best walking day last week on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 when I walked:
Steps: 12,152
Miles: 6.1
