| Dancing at Ginger's Dance Party -- November 2013 |
Young or old, age doesn't matter at Ginger's Dance Party. The outdoor dance attracts a crowd on the first Saturday of each month. The free event takes place at the Waterfront Commons, courtesy of the West Palm Beach Community Events. That department pays for the DJ -- Full Throttle Entertainment -- and the lights.

Ginger started the monthly event about four years ago as her way of giving back to the community. She and husband, Clint Fowlkes, met at a street dance in Hollywood. They dance professionally, but at her dance party, free style dancing rules.
Line dances are also popular. The DJ calls out the steps so that anyone can follow along -- The Electric Slide, The Wobble, Cha Cha Slide and YMCA.

"It's a great way to exercise," Ginger says. The two hours just zoom by.
She also enjoys playing matchmaker as she details the older couple, one 75 and the other 78, who met at the dance party. In October, the event had its first marriage proposal. She takes requests for songs on the dance party's Facebook page.
She loves living downtown and says, "If everyone volunteered for one thing they love, think how much better our communities would be."
